Friendly Fridge ("we", "us") operates a community food-resource platform that helps volunteers track visitor demographics, manage fridge inventory, and coordinate food donations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Community visit data: When a volunteer logs a visitor, we record the visitor's zip code, whether they are a senior, household size, travel method, other food sources used, food preferences, and visit frequency. This data is collected anonymously and is not tied to a named individual. Donation and inventory data: donor name and type, food categories, quantities, condition, expiry dates, and the fridge location items were delivered to. Volunteer records: your name and email when you sign up for a shift. Account information: your full name, email, and role when you register.
How We Use Information
We use demographic data to understand community needs and to support grant reporting and food sourcing decisions. Donation and inventory records help us coordinate restocking, track expiry, and measure impact. Volunteer contact details let us confirm shifts and send reminders. We never sell your information.
Data Sharing
Aggregate, de-identified data may be shared with partner organizations, food banks, and funders to support food sourcing and reporting. Individual volunteer or account information is shared only with your consent or where required by law.
Data Retention
We retain community visit and donation records for as long as they remain useful for reporting and trend analysis. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which permanently removes your account and associated personal data.
Your Rights
You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information through your Profile or by contacting us. Because demographic entries are logged anonymously, they are not linked to your account and remain part of aggregate community data.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The fridge is a public resource available to all community members. Minors should be accompanied by a guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond anonymous demographic totals.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
